Sangjon part my first guitar

Sangjon : Part my first guitar
My First Guitar And I Still Need To Learn To Play
When it comes to finding an acoustic beginner guitar, there are many things to consider. It may actually be worth spending enough money for a high quality guitar, if you have it. The ease with which the guitar plays and the sound it makes really is related to the quality and price.

Two acoustic guitars stand out in the high end beginner guitar category. The Seagull S6 makes a fine acoustic beginner guitar of high quality, that plays well enough to take a novice guitar player well into advanced technique. It is priced in the $400-500 range. Also in this price range is the Washburn D10S. This instrument was ranked as #1 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine in a comparison of guitars under $500. While both guitars represent a significant investment for the starting guitarist, they are both very playable instruments of a quality that is capable of keeping pace with the new player's ability as it grows for many years.

The Yamaha F310, Takamine G-240 and Fender DG7 are all good choices for the beginner. But in terms of price, the most affordable for the beginner is the Epiphone DR-100. Once you gain more experience you will want to trade up, but it's a great acoustic beginner guitar at $120-$150.

When you are looking for your first guitar, avoid the very cheap ones. These are actually harder to play and can be hard for even an experienced player. A cheaper made acoustic beginner guitar is just not made well and usually have really high action, meaning there is more space between the strings and the fingerboard than the more expensive guitars. This can make a beginner just give up.

If your budget is less than $100, you are better off with a second-hand acoustic beginner guitar. If you see two of the same guitar, try playing both of them. Doing this will tell you the personality of the guitar, which might also tell you a little about the personality of the previous owner.

Ever hear the saying, "never buy a guitar from a jerk"? Whether a guitar picks up a "personality" from it's owner is a point to be debated, however most guitar owners treat their instruments like people. So when you look for your first acoustic beginner guitar keep this in mind. Pay attention to the guitar's "vibe", and even if it sounds great, but doesn't feel right somehow, pass on it.

If you are a beginner and can't play worth a dime, ask the store associate to play the acoustic beginner guitar you are considering buying. Any sales person at a guitar store will be able to figure out that you would like to actually hear the sound of the acoustic beginner guitar before making a purchase. Who knows, maybe they will be assisting the next great acoustic guitar player!

Playing Drums - 3 Ways to Change Your Mindset for Success
Do you realize if a new drummer has the mindset of never becoming a great drummer, he or she will never be a great drummer? Continuing to think the way you've always thought will keep you right where you are. You will never rise above the way you see yourself.

If you say you can, or if you say you cannot do something, you're absolutely correct either way. Most everything is a state of mind. Just like being able to play double bass is a state of mind, mastering all forty rudiments is also a state of mind. You have to believe you can first do these things before you ever will.

Changing your mindset is absolutely necessary, and very simple. Here are three things you can do, right now....

1. Think in a positive light

This one is obvious, but the most difficult because it has become such a habit. You may not even realize how negative you are! The best way to become more positive is to make yourself accountable to someone you trust. Tell them you want them to let you know the next time you say something negative, or when you say you cannot do something.

2. Change your associations

Remember, I just said make yourself accountable to someone you trust? Do you have someone in your life like that? If not, you definitely need some better friends.

Here's the facts.. In the next five years you will be the sum total of the people you associate with. You have to decide who you have to cut off in order to move ahead with your drumming, and your life in general.

I know that sounds harsh, but you can still love them, but from a distance. Now, find some people who can inspire you. Whether you find them in books or in Internet forums, it doesn't matter.

Just get around some positive. You have to surround yourself with winners to create positive changes in your life.

3. Repeat affirmations to yourself

Think of a list of positive things you can say to yourself everyday. For example:

~ I choose to practice my drums everyday
~ I'm getting better and better everyday
~ I'm on my way to becoming a great drummer

Be careful of saying things like:

~ I'm a master at playing double bass (when you're not)
~ I've mastered all forty rudiments (when you haven't)
~ or anything else you simply cannot believe right now!

You've got to tell yourself things your mind can grab a hold of in the moment!

Conclusion

You cannot change what you don't acknowledge, so think about your current level of drumming and take ownership for it. Once you've owned up to it and have admitted to yourself that no one has held you back more than yourself, you'll experience a type of freedom that will propel you on to becoming the great drummer you're capable of becoming!

Sangjon : Part Microphones
Microphones Used in Recording Studios

By: Victor Epand
A microphone is an example of a transducer, a device that changes sound from one form to another. Sound exists as patterns of air pressure; the microphone changes this into patterns of electric current.

Microphones vary greatly in quality. A top end recording studio microphone may cost thousands and in many cases they are needed for the very best recordings. A variety of mechanical techniques can be used in building microphones. The two most commonly found in recording studios are the magneto-dynamic and the variable condenser designs.

All microphones convert sound energy into electrical energy, but there are many different ways of doing the job, using electrostatics, electromagnetism, piezo-electric effects, or even through a change in resistance of carbon granules. When it comes to microphones used in recording studios, the vast majority of microphones used are either capacitors, electrostatic, or dynamic.

Both types employ a moving diaphragm to capture the sound, but make use of a different electrical principle for converting mechanical energy into an electrical signal. The efficiency of this conversion is very important, because the amounts of acoustic energy produced by voices and musical instruments are so small.

Different types of microphones used in recording studios

In live sound, nearly all the microphones used are dynamics. In the studio, instruments such as drums, electric guitars, and basses are recorded using dynamic microphones. Dynamic microphones have the advantages of being relatively inexpensive and durable, and they don't need a power supply or battery to make them operate.

Dynamic microphones are most effective when working with relatively loud sound sources that do not contain a lot of very high-frequency detail. They are also tough instruments which make them good for recording studios. Another type of dynamic microphone is the ribbon microphone, but this is only used in fairly esoteric recording applications by engineers who appreciate the subtleties of the ribbon sound.

These microphones are comprised of a thin metal ribbon suspended in a magnetic field, and when sound energy is encountered, the electrical signal generated is induced in the ribbon itself rather than in a voice coil. The main advantage of ribbon microphones is their smooth, detailed sound which makes them perfect for studio environment.

Capacitor microphones are more expensive than their dynamic counterparts, and they are also much more sensitive, and can capture high-frequency detail much more accurately. Even though they are relatively efficient like dynamic microphones, capacitor microphones produce such a small electrical signal that they require a special type of built-in preamplifier to bring the signal up to usable levels. Thus they are not fit to be used in live concerts or open air concerts. Capacitors are used mostly in recording studios where there is less noise.

Conclusion

The microphone is a ubiquitous piece of equipment. Found in everything from telephones and computers to recording studios, microphones are part of our daily life. A professional studio will accumulate a varied collection of microphones. The top studios use microphones such as Shure SM58s and 57s, AKG D112s, or Sennheiser 421s.

Microphone Techniques For Acoustic Guitars

By: Victor Epand

Guitar is a very old musical instrument. It is normally played in an unplugged way. But when played in a show, a microphone is also used. Otherwise the sound will not reach every listener. Acoustic guitars have a unique sound.

Microphones sometimes cause different kinds of problems. And for that reason, the use of a proper microphone is ensured for acoustic guitars. Here we will talk about different microphone techniques for acoustic guitars.

The acoustic guitar delivers a varied range of frequencies. The range is from under 100hz to the extent which is not audible to human beings. The resonance of the largest string delivers low frequencies and the plucking system delivers the high frequencies. In most types of acoustic guitars, the sound hole generates the bass sound.

This instrument has always been so popular that people have thought of making some microphone which will not harm the sound of this instrument. And for this reason, a lot of experiments were made on microphones.

After a lot of experiments, dynamic and condenser microphones were made. These two microphones are suitable for acoustic guitars. But among these two, the condenser microphone delivers the most detailed and the brightest sound.

There are small and large diaphragm microphones available. Both of them are perfect for acoustic guitars. But while playing the lead portion of the acoustic guitar, if you stroke the string hard, then a sharp transient will be produced. It is louder than the sustain portion of the waveform. This will not sound well at the time of recording. So it will be better if you use the dynamic microphones for playing the lead portion.

To get a good sound out of the microphone, it is necessary to know where you should keep the microphone. If you keep the mike just in front of the sound hole, then the guitar will create a very dark, boomy sound. Just like that if you put it in front of the neck then it will produce a thin sound. Even the surrounded portion of the bridge will not be able to produce a proper sound, if you put the mike there.

Actually the proper microphone technique for acoustic guitars depends on the instrument itself and the playing pattern. That means it depends also on whether the instrument will be strummed or plucked, and on the music style and the recording place. The perfect place for a microphone is one to two feet away from the acoustic guitar. The mike must be pointing at a place somewhere between the sound hole and the very place where the neck of the guitar meets its body.

If you use a directional mike, then you have to adjust the distance, to make a balance between the proximity effect and the room ambiance. If you use an omni microphone for acoustic guitars, then you will be able to put it closer to the instrument and also will get a sound which is pretty much well balanced.

The most common microphone technique for acoustic guitars is the use of two microphones. One will be closer to the guitar and the other will be a bit far away.

But the interesting thing about microphone techniques is that you do not always have to use all these existing styles. You can try some technique of your own. And perhaps one day you will be able to make a microphone technique that will help many acoustic guitar players.

MUSIC FINDING

TuneGlue Sticks To Finding Music

Enter the name of a band into the search field, and it appears as a spot. Clicking the spot opens a menu of choices, including Releases and Expand. The other two options lock the node in place, or delete it.

The Releases choice retrieves the top ten search results from Amazon.com's Music section. To be direct, Amazon's search needs a red-hot tweaking for better relevance. Someone get Eric Schmidt and Jeff Bezos in a room or something.

I searched for The Cure to start things off, and its list of ten releases came up accurate, wrapping up with the craggy-faced man on the cover of Staring At The Sea - The Singles. Gotta dig that one out of the well-beaten CD case.

The Expand feature defaults to showing six related artists to the node. No quibbles here - if it hadn't pulled up Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Sisters of Mercy, and New Order, I'd question the sanity of the universe.

New Order led to Echo & The Bunnymen, and from there to The Church, where I found Amazon's search needed work. The top two results were for a hymnal and Vivaldi's Gloria, before the band that did Reptile and Under The Milky Way appeared. Charlotte Church also popped up in the list, but The Church's 'Starfish' eluded TuneGlue's grasp.

Another path led from Echo & The Bunnymen to a Manchester band I hadn't thought of in years.

Music fans should appreciate the trips down memory lane or into new territory from TuneGlue. It's an interesting approach to viewing what would normally be a list of search results on Amazon's pages, and as TuneGlue lacks that clutter, it's a recommended visit.
